How these stack against each other? Toughness, edge retention, ease of sharpening, tech specs, experiences.. Post it here.

Both have their own styles even on similar patterns like raindrop or ladder. Devin Thomas no longer makes Damascus for CRK so that is going to be harder to find moving forward. I have heard he has retired but his website is still active.

Thomas has been ill, my boss is a relative of his. I believe his son is taking over.

I was lucky, got some scraps from Devin and he offered to ht when I'm done grinding on them. I was just always nervous to touch them.

I'd go with the Thomas Damascus, just amazing the craftsmanship that would be hard to run across in the future as it becomes more rare.

Devin (Hoss) is a member here too. My understanding is he is just making Damascus for his own knives these days. I used quit a bit of Hoss’s steel some years ago. Excellent stuff.

I've got three nice pieces of DT damascus including some spirograph. I'm going to be damn careful not to mess this project up as it is pretty much irreplaceable.

I had bad experiences with Devin Thomas' workshop going back almost 10 years due to his health issues. Stuff happens, but if you are running a business that stuff ought to be sorted out over the span a decade.
He returned the scale material I sent so that was very responsible of them, but I waited almost 2 years before they decided that they couldn't make the knives.
This was before I got over my fascination with Damascus, today I don't think I would opt for it in anything but a show piece, and if I was going to do that then I would get something from someone like Johan Gustafsson that makes mosaic Damascus in wild unique patterns.
