Chaparral with Raffir Noble

I have recently started expanding my Knife collection, and the Spyderco Chaparral caught my eye, specifically with the Raffir Noble handle. Everywhere I looked says it is “out of stock” but not “discontinued.” Does anyone know if this version is still in production?

I don't know. I do know I have a Chapparral with stepped titanium and blue anodization, and it's a beautiful little knife and a most excellent slicer.

I don’t believe it’s discontinued, but you might want to ask this on the Spyderco sub-forum, you might get an answer from Sal Glesser Sal Glesser himself!

I love the Chaparral and have a few different variants and Raffir Noble is my least favorite. It’s very smooth and gets slick when wet and the scales take micro scratches and tend to get a little “cloudy” with use.

I’d suggest the Lightweight, my personal favorite, but the CF or Sun/Moon versions are great too. The stepped titanium is awesome but kind of feels like a different knife due to weight and balance. Those are discontinued and probably only available by resale.

You can’t go wrong with any Chaparral!

Thanks for the input! I just liked the way it looked, but I may reconsider if it’s that slick. There’s only so much you can tell from pictures…

Hi ACoffee,

Welcome to our forum.

They are still in production. We're just behind on production.

As mentioned, the Chaparral design is very nice and you might pick up the light weight model to get a feel for the design.

Thanks Sal. I guess I’ll just have to wait until I can make a trek to the “big city” where I can look at these in person.

It is absolutely gorgeous. I get a lot of positive comments when I carry it. I have several slick knives that are more for looks than utility. I have a V8 Mustang in the garage so practicallity doesn't limit me, but what I like does. Here are just a few. The FRN is grippy but cheap looking. I have work knives and show knives, I don't like to be limited.

I really love the Chapelle lightweight because it is so thin. It is part of my Wallet, which allows me to carry other knives.

I have the Chaparral in CTXS XHP and LOVE it. It has that exact handle material. It is very smooth and comfortable.
