I have become enamored with Chaves knives recently.

I aquired a Redencion 229 Kickstop a few weeks ago, and it has had more pocket time than any other knife since I got it. Today I added a Scapegoat to the family.

I'm really impressed with the build quality of these knives; absolutely top notch. The Redencion has been carried, used, and played with endlessly, and has not loosened up, or become stiff at all. The detent and lock up are still like they were right out of the box, and the action is smooth as glass.

And the blade grinds! They are much more slicey than I would have thought, and ergonomically they are very good. Good looking too, IMO.

I'm digging the Chaves brand, and will probably end up with more down the road.

Anybody else got one or more? show 'em off.

I had a custom Redencion years ago and foolishly sold it. It was a pocket brick but superbly built. I’ve also had a Reate-made Redencion more recently and I was just as happy with it as I was with the custom. The ultra-thin lock bar cutout still impresses me. Great knives.

I've long considered a Chaves, and the Scapegoats have really put the pressure on me.
I think the main factor that has kept me away is the pocket clip. I know they come with a more standard type too- but the whole skull thing always seemed a bit corny to me.

That said, I can see myself picking one up before the year comes to a close.

I no longer buy folders that use thumb studs as the opening device, which rules out most Chaves folders, but I recently purchased this Liberation Street Drop Point Flipper that I like:

It's on the small size but that just as well because still feels a bit fat in the pocket despite its small size but it feels good in my hand.

Haven't carried it yet but likely will shortly.

Did you cut yourself real bad with an on blade deployment set-up? A thousand dollar cut if I remember correctly.

I ran across a post a while back about that but couldn't remember by whom or what thread.. It's on my mind often, because I'd be interested to know how that happened.

Nope. That wasn't me.

I don't buy folders that only use thumb studs as the opening device anymore simply because they don't work well for me. 🤷‍♂️

I prefer to buy folders w/holes (Spydie or otherwise), flippers &/or waves for the opening devices, which are easier for me to use.

Of course, I also buy autos & balis that are easy to open but that's another matter. ;)
