Cheap Drug Store Cigars

What's your favorite? I don't want to know about the cuban or dominicas or what not. What is your favorite Cheapo/find it anywhere cigar?

I'm going to go with Swisher BlackStone's.

Swishers and such are actually like cigarettes. They have a paper wrapping. In this category, I like Black and Tans.

You might try the "dry" cigars or cigarillos such as Montecristo. They come in a small metal case and are just a little larger than a cigarette. These are "short filler" cigars; this means the tobacco is chopped up.

Regular cigars are mostly "long filler" which means whole leaves are rolled to make the cigar. Travis Club is a cheap cigar found often in stores in my area which is decent.
 
Dutch Masters and Phillies are all they sell here, along with backwoods (all gansta guys by them as singles)
 
I go into a lot of convience stores in my area. The ones in the bad areas that sell a lot of the phillies blunts tell me that they are used for smoking weed. Apparently the tobacco gets emptied out and the weed gets stuffed in. That is what they tell me.
 
backwoods are good and low in price. but thay have jumped in price($4.50 the low) recently in my area. i also like a macanudo every now and then.

LOL. Umm, they don't use them for the tobacco. They fill them with weed to make blunts.

Drug store cigars are pretty bad. I'd say the best of them would be the Garcia y Vega line, but they don't come close to a good Dominican, Honduran, or Jamaican hand rolled cigar.

Thanks for the info. I'm not really too knowledgable about cigars yet, so I'm just starting with cheap stuff.

I've had Macanudo, Black and Mild, Phillies, and La Corona Whiffs. They are all okay from what I can tell. (Which probably isn't much since I don't know anything yet.)

Does anybody know of a cigar site like bladeforums?? That would be helpful.

Go to the JR's link above and read their Cigar University page. That will get you started.

Cigar Aficionado, http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/Home is also a great place to look around.

I tend to keep it pretty simple wth cigars, they are really good, just OK, or lousy. Find whay YOU like and smokem - dont worry about what everybody else tells you.

If you really want the 'little' cigar at a great price, Monte Cruz makes a bunch of first rate small smokes that are actually cheaper than the drug store stuff -JR's has them.

All I can say is La Gloria Cubana Series R, that pretty much says it all for me.

If you ever come to Mexico you may look for Canos, Valles and Lagunas from the Turrent factory, at less that $4 U.S. for a five pack they are not bad.
 
Garcia y Vega is my vote in the el cheapo category. (Particularly the ones that come in the brown plastic tubes)

Try a Lars Tetens "air catcher" . They're made from clippings of all of their premium cigars and sell for $13 for 5.
Very scented and flavored but ith natural oils and premium tobacco.
My absolute favorites.

I'm sure it is, but unless you want to donate money to me, cheap cigars are all I'm affording now. ;)

Another recomendation for JR Cigar!

If you check out their specials the prices are not that bad. Especially when you consider the quality increase.
 
If you want to buy good cigars cheaply, buy from jrcigar.com. If you want to try a few cigars of various brands, jr has a great special on right now, with Bolivar Fuerte, El Rey Del Mundo, Sancho Panza, C.A.O., and a lot of others. This last site is more addicting than nicotine, http://cigarbid.com. Bid on thr five packs to try out various types. Read up on the recommendations from the other forums and try it out. You'll spend the same amount of money buying Drug Store crap as you would from JR or cigarbid. Bid smart too. Find out what they sell for out at various places and bid 80% of that price. Sometimes you'll win it.
