So after watching the Walking dead, I want a sword! In all seriousness, I was wondering if there are any function, low-priced, sharp katanas available?

Well that depends on what you consider "low-priced"....and don't worry about sharp, good ones will come sharp. Zombie Flesh is notorious for wearing down the sharpest blade so best learn how to sharpen yourself.

look at the mono-steel katanas in the 250 to 350 price range. That's as realistic in price as you can expect.

under 300$ i just got a hanwei renshu, 5160 spring steel, great blade, i also got a 1095 ryujin, for about 200$ also a great blade

i would stay away from 1045, i wouldnt go below 1060 you start getting into really soft steel at 1045. musashi makes a decent 1060 i own called the eternal wheel for under 100$ that might be an option

good tip, thanks!

they indicate that the blade can be bent extremely and still return to true.. while I know from reviews of the 1045 that it could become bent if roughly treated.. the 1060 seems a much better option indeed.

My first Chinese Kahana was the Hanwei Renshu. It's still my primary backyard cutter.

nice i have the renshu also great cutter, my only advice if you get a renshu is that you have large hands cause the tsuka is pretty wide but other than that a great blade

Condor Tactana..... no, its not a katana, its a katana shaped object but on a budget to scratch that Walking Dead itch.... it'll preform well enough to hack crap up in the back yard or whack trees out in the woods....

can be had in the 125.00ish range..... cheaper than that I'd suggest a cold steel katana machete for about 45.00
