Yesterday i got my new G&G Hawk deadlock OTF. First i want to thank Gavin Hawk for getting me this knife before BLADE which is a crazy busy time for knife makers and i really appreciate him fitting it in.

Last year i bought a all titanium version with a CTS-204p blade. This year i wanted something "fancier" so i got the carbon fiber version with Damasteel blade as well as damasteel hardware (not counting the screws) I absolutely loved the first deadlock i got but this one is just amazing! i couldnt be happier with it. everything about it is just awesome. The photos dont even come close to how beautiful this thing is in person. just like the first one i got, the action is perfect with absolutely ZERO blade play.

im not sure why exactly but button/switch on my new one is smoother then my first. I think it might be because the parts had to be polished prior to being etched and that might lower friction. Another reason could simply be that Gavin has more experience when he made this one. The first one is still very smooth, especially compared to a microtech scarab which can require two thumbs to open and close. Both of my deadlock can be opened with your pinkie.

This knife is pretty much my deam/grail knife. Im not sure how i can get anything better then this one. I dont know if im going to be able to carry this one though. I carry the titanium deadlock as my EDC about 50% of the time. I belive knives should be used, but this one is just so freaking nice that im scared to carry it.

Anyways enough words.....time for some photos!!!! (i will try to get some better ones later)

They are an awesome OTF.....I've got a couple myself. ;)

Is this new one a new 'take-down' versions? I need to get one of those, too. :)

i believe so, as it came with the tools as well as extra ball bearing and "e" clips. I guess i will have to do a side by side take down one of these days. my titanium one could probably use a good cleaning since its been riding around in my pocket for over a year now. im sure its got all sorts of lint on the inside.

which style deadlocks do you have? i would love to see some photos.

I'm such a fan of the Hawks that I want one very badly, even though I can't legally carry it!

My first is a Proto and the 2nd may be, too....I'll have to dig them out.

As a FYI, Gavin told me the earlier Generations weren't made to disassemble....

I've watched his Youtube video on the disassembly.... :)

Bad pics of my first, Proto #11/14, the second is not a Proto but from the 1st run.

Gavin showed me how to disassemble, there wasnt a video out at the time but i live like 30min from him so if i have any problems i can always just bring it to him. however i think only the first run and prototypes weren't made to disassemble since they are the only ones with a garnet in the screw heads. mine from the second and third batch have screws that can easily be removed. I am going to have to take my titanium one apart soon to clean, its gotten lots of use and pocket time and is getting a little dirty on the inside.
