Yesterday i got my new G&G Hawk deadlock OTF. First i want to thank Gavin Hawk for getting me this knife before BLADE which is a crazy busy time for knife makers and i really appreciate him fitting it in.
Last year i bought a all titanium version with a CTS-204p blade. This year i wanted something "fancier" so i got the carbon fiber version with Damasteel blade as well as damasteel hardware (not counting the screws) I absolutely loved the first deadlock i got but this one is just amazing! i couldnt be happier with it. everything about it is just awesome. The photos dont even come close to how beautiful this thing is in person. just like the first one i got, the action is perfect with absolutely ZERO blade play.
im not sure why exactly but button/switch on my new one is smoother then my first. I think it might be because the parts had to be polished prior to being etched and that might lower friction. Another reason could simply be that Gavin has more experience when he made this one. The first one is still very smooth, especially compared to a microtech scarab which can require two thumbs to open and close. Both of my deadlock can be opened with your pinkie.
This knife is pretty much my deam/grail knife. Im not sure how i can get anything better then this one. I dont know if im going to be able to carry this one though. I carry the titanium deadlock as my EDC about 50% of the time. I belive knives should be used, but this one is just so freaking nice that im scared to carry it.
Anyways enough words.....time for some photos!!!! (i will try to get some better ones later)
