Does anyone have any experience with Citadel knives? I found a model of theirs that I'm very interested in buying, it has buffalo horn handles which I'm aware is a somewhat higher end material, 1075 steel for the blade which is a decent quality carbon steel, and I really like the design. However, I have no experience with Citadel knives, and I've not heard talk about them on the forums. I'll probably end up buying one either way, but I'd like to hear any comments you guys have regarding Citadel knives first.

I kind of hope no one buys one, I don't have the $70 right now and I don't want them to go out of stock before I get my hands on one. I'm spending almost $100 on a pocket sheath and a Tom Krein regrind for one of my puukkos, I wish I would've seen this knife a bit earlier.

Found a video , its in Italian, best I could do .

I have the one you linked, and also a linerlocking Citadel khukri with wooden handle.
Watch out, the Aizo is an old-fashioned non-locking friction folder. Nice, but not for everyone.

I realize it is a friction folder, and that's one of the things that draws me towards it. So you liked the knife? Any quick good points and bad points?

It's nice and usable, but I think that the pivot is not designed for the handling long periods of the toughest work.
More a general gentlemeny usage folder.
The buffalo scales are nice. Nicely sharp from the factory.
All in all it has a kind of medieval charm. For the reasonable price you get something quite different.
HERE is a closer picture, including how it is in the hand
The steel of the blade is tempered differentially: around hrc 60 at the edge and a low but more elastic below hrc50 t the spine.
Citadel are indeed made (nicely) in Cambodia but they're led by a French gy, or so I once read.
An interesting brand with characterful knives.

ps HERE is the Khukri which I have

I have one of the Citadel tantos and it show a pretty good workmanship and it is BIG!. It show a great hamon and is of folded steel (1029 layers) and the handle is solid same(ray skin).
At first I was a bit weary(sp?) about getting a tanto made in Cambodia but it looks like the do know what they are doing.

FWIW

I am a loyal tool in China, friends, I love the knife, spoke about this fortress knife, I have one, I really like, is produced in Cambodia, Montenegro horns do handle, very sharp, the knife is my love one. Is hand-made, and I want to say is, I love you, I love the knife all the world Friends brothers. Thank you.

I don't have experience with their knives. But I have three of their katana. They are the best production katana in the katana market (I own over 20 katana). The owner is a Frenchman and an editor for a French language knife magazine. He went to Cambodia and taught local craftsman how to make knives and swords. All their blades, with very few exceptions, are truly handmade. They even forged in a coal forge with three human strikers (versus power hammer).

It truly is a beautiful and solid folder. Combination of East and West.

I love a resurrected thread :)
That is a really good looking knife. I don't think I've ever heard anything really bad about Citadel. And it must be great for the local economy (I am assuming the workers are paid a generous local wage, although confirmation would be good).

They did an article about this company in the latest issue of Tactical Knives magazine.

I forgot which month the issue was though.

I finally got here !! This is my 1st post ! I was unsure of Citadel because I NEVER heard of them. I did Google Citadel before the purchase...and ALWAYS check "bladeforums" b4 making any moves on knives I have no knowledge of. I like "shiny" things....and being a "knife junkie" for 30+ years a new addition to the family is always welcome. But I am very picky and only want QUALITY knives. So as expected the purchase was made ($76.50 +S/H). It is absolutely beautiful !! The pics did it NO justice..just a tease. It's a single blade folder. The fact that it doesn't lock didn't bother me at all (my S&W .40 cal has no safety either !). It is 4'' closed...nice file work on spine...mirror finish on blade...but how cool is it have a knife w/"raw steel"as part of the look !! The contrast makes it look like a true piece of art ! Nice n' tight blade with "0" wobble all the way through. After cleaning it...even though it was apparently unused...it really is a thing to admire. The big surprise was its' 5 oz weight ! The suede carry pouch it came with has served well to protect it from scratches so far...I'll just get a nice sheath for it because it's a bit heavy for the pocket. Balance is good and appears very well made. Though I would not recommend this style for a "working knife". I "would" highly recommend a Citadel if someone is unsure as to the quality of the product. Sorry I didn't post pics...I will learn to do that real soon. ~~~ You always feel naked if you don't have a knife ~~~
