The elementum fixed blade is something i wasn't really super hyped about but decided to pick one up for fun (maybe replace my 200 Puukko that's been soldiering on).

Right off the bat, very very good fit and finish, mine came 9/10 sharp with no issues I can see. The sheath feels very premium and definitely a step above the 200 puukko's (which sucks). The sheath has a retention button strap for the handle that's a little tight at first but should wear over time.

To me, the length is perfect and means I can legally carry it if I wish (cant wait for someone to make a horizontal carry sheath!). The jimping on top is fine, the spine is rounded and will not strike a fire steel. I removed the lanyard that came with it, it's kind of tacked on.

Holding it in hand, I'm instantly reminded of my Bradley Bowie, same materials and very very similar widths. The Bradley bowie gets a step up because the contouring is better for my hand and finger choyle feels perfect. The bowie has holes for pins, while the Civivi is solid, I feel like Civivi could've made them a little prettier but this is fine.

Overall, they did a good job preserving the Elememtum look and create something functional. The blade shape is a utilitarian shape and should function very well for most tasks. It has the same slicey hollow grind.

Apologies I dont have any hard use thoughts, I also have never used 10Cr15Mov, but very eager to find out. I actually don't have any stainless steel fixed blades, so this will be interesting!

Appreciate you taking the time to read this, for 80 something, it's not a bad deal. Hopefully this helps you make your decision.

Cheers!

Nice review, thanks. I don't have a problem with the grip on my Puukko 200 -- I find the Santoprene (Kraton?) very grippy and easy on the hand. Have to agree with you about the sheath, though. I cut the original one apart and used it as a pattern to make a much sturdier and classier sheath out of latigo sadddle leather.

The both feel very similar in hand, mostly due to the way the G10 is machined. The bowie feels very thin and capable in hand, which the elementum feels slightly chunky. The elementum feels much better in a reverse grip due to the more neutral handle.

Both would not work very well wet, the handles will get super slippery. The 200 Puukko on the other hand, does really good wet (I've used it as such).

Post a pic! I wish I was talented enough to make a good sheath for it...I have seen some good ones floating around but they're all like 80 bucks...

I'm very familiar with the Cold Steel version and they are hard to beat for grippy under all conditions , plus thermal and vibration isolation .:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hey looks great Ed! I'm a fan of simple sheaths. As long as it retains the knife well...which the current one does not...

Thanks. I've developed this simple pouch style sheath (simple, meaning reflecting my leather making abilities:rolleyes:) after making maybe a dozen or so (with many missteps along the way). It has a thick welt, saddle stitched with waxed nylon thread, and the leather is well treated with two coats of SnowSeal, melted in with an old hair dryer (NOT my wife's current one). I drilled the holes with a 1/16" drill, a rather painstaking process but at least the holes are regular. The retainer is a simple braided nylon loop, knotted inside the belt loop. It's quite secure and still accessible.

I was watching KC YouTube yesterday and DCA mentioned 10Cr15Mov is analogous to VG10. Not sure if he got that from the composition, but there you go.

Now it reminds me of a Falkniven
