A personal view comparison of the Civivi Rustic Gent against the Rough Ryder Reserve OO7
First..
Both of these are nice quality knives
Both are D2 steel
Both made in China
Both a good value for the dollar
Size….The RRR is a bigger knife overall
Weight….The RRR is heavier, by far… you can feel the difference for sure, the Rustic Gent is a Feather Weight super light
Action…They both have 1/2 steps. The Rustic Gent feels smoother, more refined, but the RRRoo7 is nice too
Lanyard hole….clear winner…RRRoo7
Scales..Both are Micarter, The Civivi seem more organic to the touch, the RRRoo7 smoother, less porious.
You can feel the screws on on Rustic gent….The RRRoo7 is smooth as silk.
Strength, I would jave to say the RRR007, is a beefier build
Price ..RRRoo7 $49……Civivi $79
Extras…Nice leaather slip with Civivi, nothing with the RRRoo7
One hand opening…..winner is the RRR007….easier overall…you can do the rustic gent but its more difficult
Winner? depends
If you more of a BUCK 110 type guy, and
If you can get pass the Rough Ryder nameplate, I think it wins on practicality and usage…cheaper, bigger, stronger, excellent build quality….
more of a work horse knife…
If you are more of a GEC type guy, and
you want a more petite very light weight gentlemans knife with a nice leather slip and very nice quality…and sleek looks, the Rustic gent fits the bill nicely ….but its $30 bucks more than the RRRoo7.
I like them both for different reasons.
