I was originally on the internet looking for why I could not get a sharp edge on my Benchmade. This got my to their site and their free sharpening service so I was pretty stoked but then it got complicated with shipping etc. I noticed they use a gun store up the road to ship to so next time I'm in town I'm going to run by there and see what they recommend.

While doing the Benchmade paperwork it asked "model number" and that put me into a rabbit hole which ended with me being on this forum lol. I noticed most newer model BM's have a model number under the butterfly but my doesn't have anything. Also when I zoomed in to make sure my eyes weren't missing the number I noticed it said balisong which is really weird because thats a butterfly knife right?

So now I'm really just curious about my knife. I got it new back in the 90's and based on what I see from BM's website it looks like an early edition of the 2550 mini-reflex II? It appears now there is a safety on this model which this one doesn't have.

For 25+ years old this knife works flawlessly. Occasionally it will get a little slow on the release and drag opening but a little gun oil spray does the trick lol. I just wish I could get that sharp edge back.

Well, enjoy the pics and if you know about this knife it would be cool to hear more about it.

Reflex model 2000 (4 inch blade) or it's a Mini-Reflex model 2550. There is some debate of the full size Reflex ever had a pocket clip, though. Some later versions may have, BUT your knife has the old-ass Bali-Song insignia, so I'd guess it's a 2550.

It is a BM2500 Mini Reflex. I have one in my collection.

One of my favorite auto knives!

I'm assuming it has a four-inch blade. If so, you have a Benchmade Reflex 2000. It has since been discontinued. I have one identical to it, except it has no pocket clip. There is no safety on them. I too purchased mine back in the 90s. And you are correct, balisongs are butterfly knifes. Originally the company began as Bali-Song, before it was Pacific Cutlery Corp., and before being dissolved and becoming Benchmade. It's a great knife. Good luck with the sharpening. Benchmade should take care of you.

Hey WeaponsFanatic,

would you be interested in selling your Reflex 2000?
