Clipless carry for my large Sebenza 21

Since I’ll be using a leather pocket slip, I’ve removed the pocket clip from my Sebenza and replaced it with the little Ti insert. I have the black micarta version and the lack of micarta on the lockbar portion is super noticeable now.

Has anyone even tried installing a new partial inlay on the lockbar portion?

This would look pretty boss if I for sure wasn’t going to be using a clip.

In my mind, it would look something like this:

Thanks for any opinions, insights, etc.

He’s saying he wants to add an extra insert that sits along the length of the lockbar. Not replace the little titanium tab where the pocket clip screw is.

Oh, well that's going to mess with the lockbar spring tension. Not to mention milling it when the spring is bent would be an absolute pain in the ass.

In short, no I've never seen that and I doubt it would be very feasible.

Thanks for your thoughts. That’s exactly why I appreciate everyone’s opinions. I love my 21 and wouldn’t want to mess it up.

I have/had a couple of those pocket slips over time...they look neat and fit the knife, but it takes me forever to get to my knife...gave up on that sleeve. But yes, it looks nice and not everyone wants immediate access to his knife.
Actually, I also wear a cross-draw leather sheath for my 3" fixed, and I use that one almost all of the time, as it is so quick to come "to hand." My clipped knife is just along for the ride.
I've carried two knives like this now for over two yrs and likely will continue.

Interesting question OP
I wouldn't bother with milling the lockbar for an inlay, you'd void the warranty and weaken it also
But an overlay might be a fun little project, not sure how well the VHB tape would be hidden though

Very few knife makers pay any attention to the lock-side at all on their decorated knives. We are kinda lucky CRK does inlay the lock side, though it does create further asymmetry

The thing to take to heart:

The Sebenza is an asymmetrical knife. In its very design, the slabs are very different, with cut-outs for thumb access, clip pockets, lock bar, and single thumbstud.

I feel any attempt to make the knife more symmetrical, just amplifies the things about it that remain asymmetrical, drawing your eye to them. This is one reason I’m not really a fan of double thumb studs.

Just some thoughts to put your mind at ease. That is a beautiful knife. I own the same model in spear-point and it was my first, and perhaps still “best”, CRK.
