Since June 21st is the longest daylight day of the year Amanda and I took the Jeep up north and checked out a nice long dirt road that was once a railroad bed, that goes by Lake Mooselookmeguntic and the Appalachian trail crosses. It is a good low impact way to see a lot of woods and wildlife. After the road dumps out on the main road we traditionally fish Beaver pond for some brook trout. We try to take pictures of stuff that interests us along the way.
Here are some of those pictures.
A family of Canadian geese at Mooselookmeguntic.
Giant bull Moose track. Notice the deer track in the foreground.
My favorite bird, a Loon at Mooselookmegintuc.
A Ragged Robin flower.
Variations of Wild Lupine
Beaver pond.
A family of ducks at Beaver pond.
Me trying to catch some supah!
Becker found a way to entertain himself. If a stick ever breaks into our house I know we will be safe.
The Beautiful sky over the pond with some wild Daises.
I got skunked. Amanda cought 3 nice Brookies.
Time to test out my new Yuma on some trout! It did a fine job.
With that task done and the light fading fast we decided to head home. Here is the sunset over the pond.
On the way home we saw two Moose. One crossing the road and one that wouldn't get out of the road. It ran down the road about a 1/4 mile while we followed slowly behind waiting for it to make up it's mind. After a while it found the logging road it wanted to head down and turned off the road into the darkness.
Thanks Todd and Murph for putting on this contest and for making great knives.
