Anyone have experience with these models? Both are shorter katanas (36" OAL with 24"-26" blades) which is specificaly what I am looking for. The Cold steel is slightly more expensive but not by much. Of course the CS is a 1055 steel while the Krish Kutlery is 9250 & 1060 folded steel. I do like the idea of the brass fittings on the Kris while the CS has the typical iron fittings. Any thoughts or opinions on either model would be appreciated. Thanks

The CS Chisa is a heavy hitter, very stout. The Kris is probably lighter and better balanced, probably much quicker in the hand.

i had my eye on the chisa for years but decided i didnt want to buy cold steels Chinese blades..

Why is that?

The chisa may be short but it is quite a large blade--wide thick and heavy--the fittings are good quality. Cold Steel's katanas are made by Dynasty Forge which makes good swords. The Cold Steel stuff is made to Cold Steel spec not Dynasty Forge spec. Take a look at the Dynasty Forge Musha Ko-Katana--similar to the chisa but a couple ounces lighter with more distal taper.

mostly out of principle, i feel like they are overpriced for what they are and where they are made(i dont like Chinese made things unless they are AKs or SKSs), i have also seen many people complain about edge retention on the cold steel katanas...,

I think Kris makes blades that are a lot more lively and well balanced. I had a cold steel chisa katana, it handled much like a club and I got rid of it years ago.

A very decent short sword is the Cheness SGC Ko-Katana

I have one and it cuts very well
