I just wanted to report on my tests of the Cold Steel Delta Dart.
I used the thumb-reinforced grip to complete all tests. I used my right hand with a standard work glove (to reduce fatigue from repeated tests.)
I was able to fully penetrate the following combinations of layers:
Test 1: 80 pages of newspaper and 4 layers of thick cardboard.
Test 2: 6 layers of (thin) fabric and 1 layer of tin. (I used a cookie tin like you get at Christmas.)
Test 3: 1 CD and 2 layers of cardboard.
After each test, I resharpened the Dart with a steel knife.
Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of the Dart. I feel that in a self-defense situation, it could definitely be used to great effect. While it lacks a cutting edge, it is extremely light weight, impervious to the elements, very inexpensive, and invisible to metal detectors.
I highly recommend the Cold Steel Delta Dart.
