This is more of an initial impression..

The knife is not as sharp as my gunsite .. The handles are a bit cumbersome even for a 4' knife. When locked open, there is faint movement of the blade up and down. There is no metalwork done by hand, so its not truly 'custom' like they claim. The blade seems like it should have strong geometry.

Bottom line, wish i had saved my $ and bought a much better knife for another hundred bucks or so. The MSRP of 320$ is completely ridiculous for this knife.

Sebenza still rules the roost by a wide margin..

1) Is this a liner lock? CSs BS marketing doesn't even really tell you that much.
2) Bladeplay in a knife of this so-called calibre is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Send it back, if you can get a refund, do it.
3) How can you tell that metal work was not done by hand?
4) Thanks for saving me and others the pain of buying one of these things.
5) I have less respect for cold steel now than I ever did.

It is indeed a liner lock.. the play in the blade, though very slight, mirrors the liner moving very slightly towards the closed position. One thing that really annoys me is the slight scraping noise i hear when a move the liner back off the blade before closing it.

Maybe i'm being a bit harsh, i haven't wacked the spine or done formal testing.. generally i do like cold steel though, for the price pretty good stuff (and usually sharper than this knife) , i thought 'for a few dollars more' i'd get something really nice.

As for custom fit its readily apparent this is factory-fit together..

are you saying that various parts.... liner scale, bolster, etc. don't line up?
You should seriously consider returning it if you can. You deserve to get your money worth, and this knife has clearly not met your expectations. I am sorry this happened.

I'm shocked that theres up & down blade play, its supposed to be like a hand made knife. you would think it would be noticed after final assembly.is it hard to open left handed? that thumb stud looks to be very close to the bolster for left hand opening.i had a lonewolf harsey with the same problem, got rid of it quick.......

Not surprised to hear of Hatamoto problems. Bought one, factory direct, by mail, when they were in production. Liner scale came w/a lift, which I felt, was unacceptable, considering it's price. Sent it back w/a photo pointing out the defect along w/a note of dissatisfaction and Cold Steel sent me a replacement, which is perfect in every way. The hassle was a bit of a bummer, but, I'm very happy w/the one they sent back to me and is my everyday carry.
