Hey guys. I haven't been on here in a while. I was sad to hear about the apparent "demise" of Cold Steel, if we should indeed call it as such. I'm not too optimistic personally, but we'll see what happens! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what will happen to the Cold Steel videos currently on YouTube. It would be a real shame to see them go (younger LCT and gang, meat-cutting, and old-school products and logos galore), as they are integral to the brand and history. I don't presume to know how those YouTube channels are managed, except that it isn't technically difficult to keep a page running. I just don't know if they'll be allowed to keep it up anymore (with the brand and rights owned by someone else) or if they will even want to, but I hope it stays. Thoughts?

Happy New Year to all, and a special shout-out to my fellow vintage CS collectors T The Whip , @jlauffer, @nephron, and all the rest of you I haven't spoken with in a while! :)

^ JenC has a point there. they made Lynn apologize in that one video for anything he might have said or did in the past. I said made, I have no idear...just seemed forced to me.

they may take those videos down as they might not line up with their marketing idears. I'm gonna miss the pepper spray ones. those made me laugh and fall out of my chair long ago. hilarious.

I'm gonna go and find those and watch again before they are taken down.

It would be a shame if they choose to remove them. But even if they do, I am covered since I have all of the Proof videos made by Cold Steel on DVD and VHS. The Iron Proof videos were released on Youtube not available directly from Cold Steel as before. Then there are the most recent videos filmed on Lynn Thompson's ranch or Andrew Demko's work shop.

I've got them all, too, so we won't lose them as a group, regardless of what GSM decides. With the sale, I really wish Cold Steel had put out a physical copy of Iron Proof and a 40th anniversary catalog. They would have made for a nice conclusion to this chapter of Cold Steel's history.

Welcome back, J jencarlos ! It's good to see you here again!

Thanks so much! By the way, I currently have one DVD case of Cold Steel videos. It's the one titled "SOLID PROOF". It came in a slim DVD case and has two discs inside. One is a dual-layer double-sided disc without artwork and the other is a single-layer standard disc with artwork on the front. The insert sleeve itself is copyrighted 2006. Do you know what else would I need to buy to have all the videos currently on YouTube (excluding of course the material that never had a physical release)?

In release order:

Proof on VHS

More Proof on DVD

Solid Proof & Graphic Sword Proof on DVD

Absolute Proof on DVD

Apocalypse Proof on DVD

There are multiple covers for several titles, based on how they were distributed. But I'm pretty certain that they don't possess different content.

There is also the first one, the 1987 demonstration VHS video conducted by Dan Maragni. Good luck finding that one!

They've already removed LT's name from CS history on "Our Company" page. So not really sure about videos staying...

Who cares? They already changed the company logo. As far as I am concerned Cold Steel is dead and a new Dork Ops has spawned. Collectors will know to value the old product and we will wait and see if the new company ever produces anything.

I hope we will continue to have access to their videos on youtube.
This sucks.
It reminds of when the Kershaw forum went away, and they shifted their production, almost exclusively, to cheaper Chinese models.
Who's next?

Well, they re-launch the Talwar, and it's still made in Taiwan, so maybe some new CS knives will be kinda good. At least new owners said that CS already got a product line for 2021 and they gonna produce those first, before inventing something themselves.
