Cold Steel Recon Tanto Carbon V

Why do you thing Cold Steel decided to go with AUS8 as a replacement steel rather than going with 1095 carbon or some other carbon steel? With a slab of steel like the Recon Tanto, I can't imagine anyone preferring stainless steel, especially when the blade is finished with an epoxy coating that protects against rust.
