A shot in the dark but would anyone know of an aftermarket kydex sheat that would fit the Cold Steel Scalper Knife? Cheers!

Cold Steel Scalper
You mean like the top knife in this pic ? :

I just use the one that came with the knife , pictured at top . But it's just kitchen use for me .

I'm sure you could have a sheath made , but it would cost more than the knife .

That's the one, I'd like to take it hunting but I don't think the factory sheath is up to snuff.

Good knives deserve good leather sheaths (Kydex sucks). Have one of the great leather craftsmen here make one up for you, or make one yourself.
This is a knife i paid $19 for. I'm open to leather as well but truthfully I'm looking for the cheapest option that will do the job.

Leather is generally more flexible and forgiving than kydex .

You might be able to find a decent leather sheath, off the shelf , in the proper length , that will work , for not too much $$$ .

how wide and long is this knife blade? Wonder if a kabar leather sheath would work. I've stuck many knives in those with good results?

looked it up see 6" blade. maybe a Buck 119 sheath would fit if handle isn't too wide to snap it shut, and blade isn't too wide to fit in the sheath?

I think it’s too big for a 119 sheath. (Edit: tested and it is both too long and wide to fit the 119 sheath). The kabar might work but I sold mine and can’t test fit. I’d look for an aftermarket nylon/cordura sheath, though the factory sheath is good to go in my opinion.

Hmmm, I've got a Scalper and a Kabar USMC with a leather sheath. I'll try to remember to test this out tonight and post results.

Spec Ops makes a bunch of generally compatible fixed blade sheaths. I think they're overkill and tacticool, but they're well made and one will probably fit.

Well I'll be damned.

The snap didn't quite close, but I probably could have forced it if I really tried. There is a little extra room near the tip so you could feasibly cut a little slot at the throat to make the guard fit flush.

nice. thanks for testing it. I'm often amazed at how many knives a kabar sheath will kinda fit. not perfect, but good enough

1.4" wide 6" long
sorry I have the sheath, but not that knife. can't test it but oldmanwilly did. he thinks he could stretch the leather strap to close the snap. so not perfect but enough it could be used, it appears.

I ended up fighting a Ka-Bar sheath localy (Navy version if that makes a difference). The fit is great and the clasp on mine closes easily. Thanks again for the suggestion.
glad it worked out, just be careful of your fingers on the bit of exposed blade. looks small area but nothing worse than cuts out in the jungle.......

Not the OP, but I find the original sheath to be pretty decent for what it is (a Mora style plastic pouch). Doesn’t dull the edge and definitely can’t allow the blade to poke through.

A concern I’d have using it for hiking or hunting would be that it’s possible for the belt loop to open enough that the sheath slides off the belt, as it doesn’t have a ton of tension keeping it closed.

That's it. The cost of a new sheath is wortth the piece of mind for me.
