The Cold Steel Ti-Lite with a 6" Kris Blade has also become of interest to me. What's the thinking behind the Kris blade? Greater cutting edge length within the same overall blade length? The kris' ability to "bite" into a cut? More jagged (and thus lethal) cuts? Maybe it's just plain bitchen' looking? Obviously not a super-practical knife, but an interesting conversation starter.

So what's the story on the Cold Steel Ti-Lite with a 6" Kris Blade? Thanks!

The kris evolved in South East Asia purely as a weapon. With almost a pistol grip, the kris was used as a thrusting weapon. The kris blade, with its waves, usually an odd number, developed to serve this purpose and was sharpened on both edges. The effect was as if the kris was a broader blade but with the ease of penetration of a narrower blade, leaving a massive wound channel.

Why did CS put a kris blade into a Ti-Lite? It's for whatever purpose that each user sees for the kris blade. Maybe greater cutting edge length with multiple recurves to really bite into thick rope? Maybe a efficient zombie de-animating tool?

"Thanks" and "could be." ;)

the traditional weapon has religious significance rooted within culture.
the cs product is a modern take.
and there is nothing religious about it.
except that it has a magical draw
enough to mesmerise and stun the onlooker.
from a design stand point
it is both beautiful and wicked.
kris are thrusting weapons.
and cs has raised the bar
with spectacular wavy sharpness.
its not the first kris folder from an american company
(benchmade had the custom kris
balisong from ages ago).;
but it is the first folding kris
with the quillion snag opening feature.
its truly an exotic weapon
that is both thrilling and delighful
to anyone looking for the extraordinary.
works like a charm, unless one is
hopelessly caught on the receiving end.

Pretty sure the idea here is 3 bellies and a hook tip

In summary, because they can. It's cool to some people. I honestly want to try one, just to try it, but I'm not really willing too pay much for it just for that purpose. Sharpening seems like it would be a SOB on that.

Historically, a decent amount of French and Italian folding dirks, etc.... have kris type blades, I'm sure Lynn was looking at that too, it makes a great looking thin folder.

Thanks for your comments. I very much agree. I think most people would immediately be intrigued (and/or frightened) when first viewing this knife. Except of course for the "experts" (LOL!) who consider any knife with a blade not made from extra virgin Unobtainium 0427HiX-K2L(1CXb5-XSa) and scales from precision lapped chunks of meteors to be "junk."

No matter how you spin it, it's cool. Thanks again.

I've got the green handle "Lynn Thompson" kris and the brown handle serrated kris. Are they practical? Who gives a s_it!? Both versions are super cool. I wonder if we'll see any unique offerings like these in the future?

You'll have to ask "Stick Man" about that one:rolleyes:
I wouldn't hold my breath lest LT had one percolating in a skunkworks division before the sale of the company.
