Guys...

Sorry, I know this forum deals with axes, tomahawks and hatchets...
But I think you can help me anyway...
I am thinking about getting this walking stick as an addition to my collection...

I already have 2 others, both non-wood walking sticks... a Cold Steel 'African Walking Stick', and a Cold Steel 'City Stick'...
Do you guys think that the ash this walking stick is made from will be durable/tough enough for a walking stick/weapon? I am asking you guys because I have seen knowledge here as relates to wood...
It looks like a good addition, but I don't know enough about ash to make an informed choice...

Ash is used for baseball bats. It will take any stress you're likely to put on it. I have a Purple Heart Walkabout. These are all very heavy, tough sticks.

Do you have a picture/link to what a 'Purple Heart Walkabout' looks like?
BTW... I like your avatar, sir!!!

It looks just like the ash, but it's a dark purple color. They haven't carried the exotic hardwoods for a while now.

I had wanted to reshape the knob a bit, into more of a ball, but without power tools, forget it. The Purple Heart is way too tough to carve.

Thanks, I like the avatar, too. :)

Hope you got the DVD 'Stun, Stagger and Stop'! It's loaded with lots of information on training with your WalkAbout, City Stick or African Walking Stick!
