Amazing piece of history.
Collins and Co. Legitimus 1942 machete. A large jungle style machete.
21 1/2" blade, 27" overall length. Pictured with a Swamp Rat Rucki for scale. For a blade this size- it feels amazing in the hand. It swings and slashes with ease.
Also included is the very nice quality sheath. Marked US ALPCO 42.
I got this from a trusted friend of the family who is a big military collector. Asking just what I paid which seems a fair price. This is in excellent condition for something 70+ years old. Some oxidation/discoloring, but no rust or pitting that I can find. No dings in the edge. A couple of collectors told me it is very rare to find these with handles that are as intact as these. Usually they crack/split and are incomplete. These have one very tiny piece missing near one corner.
I have liked having this but it has just been sitting and I need to start clearing some items out.
