I simply can not sharpen knives using a stone. I can't seem to hold the 15 degree angle. I saw the Columbia River Slide Sharp Knife Sharpening System on ebay and wonder if it is any good as a sharpening system. Has anyone had any experience with this system? Any opinions good or bad are welcome. TIA.

I had a similiar sharpening system that I did not really care for.
For years I kept my knives sharp with India and Hard Arkansas bench stones.
THEN!!! I discovered the Spyderco Sharpmaker system and I will use no other.
The system is foolproof as far as maintaining proper angles and the end result is a faceted(double angle)edge on the blade.
Check it out!

Go with the sharpmaker, as Zeke/pa said it is easy to maintain the angles. I have an unused slidesharp sitting at my desk, that I got for free, and it does not say it can sharpen serrated knives, but i know the sharpmaker can. The fine stones in the sharpmaker also seem to be finer that the slidesharp stones. Also the sharpmeker does not have the spring system that the slidesharp has and is more compact.

Edit: I just tried the slidesharp and found out the sharpmaker is much better.

Got one. Dont think much of it. Get a Sharpmaker. No good for beveling but will keep an existing bevel sharp.

Just got a Sharpmaker yesterday at Sportsman Warehouse---It's fantastic!!! The best I've ever used. I used to sharpen by hand before, no more, it's the Sharpmaker from here on out. As a testamonial, ther's a reduce amount of hair on my forearm!!! Get's the blade hair shaving sharp.
