Anyone using these belts regularly? Not many threads about them or their belts. I have been using DEER Bora-7 Ceramics from super grit since I buy my Redline sheets from them. Anyone know how CA Shredders compare to Blaze and the Bora-7s? This is a thread from three years ago, which seems to be the last time they were discussed. Thanks for any input.

I think I will buy a few of each belt and do some experiments. Maybe see how fast each one can grind some flat stock away. But I think the issue is more longevity.

I use them, but I haven't used any others, so I really can't compare them to anything. I bought their starter pack a while back and haven't used them all up yet.

ive tried a couple sunmight low grit ceramic belts. I got these from combat abrasives. First one blew at the seam within minutes of using despite looking brand new. Both had large chunks of grit missing along the edges as well as a ragged/ loose backing. This cause me issued when grinding along the edges of belt. Kind of hazardous while running a high speed low grit ceramic. It looks like these are cut to width from larger sizes and this was a no go for me. The ceramic cut well enough.

With a 15% discount they offer when signing up to their mailing list, their belt prices are reasonable. Now, I am comparing to trugrit blaze prices. So may not be a fair comparison if blaze belts are better. CA belts are not much cheaper. At most $1 per belt. Will buy a few blaze, a few CA, and compare them with the Bora-7 belts I have.

Yeah. I realized today when I bought my ameribrade the belts they sell are combat abrasives. They seemed to work pretty well and I still have all but a few of them. But I have purchased so many belts by now that I am not sure where they all come from.

Yes. I was messing around on their website and a few of the products they require you buy in quantities of two or six since they cut them from a 12" belts. I guess it is more economical to sew one 12" belt than six 2" belts. The buying in multiples is a bit annoying. I have trizact belts in three different grits. I was going to buy one CA structured in a few other grits to test them out. They are about $7 a piece, but having to spend $14 to try them out makes me not want to.

i didnt mind the buying in multiples part, its just that the way they are cut to width left jagged edges, missing grit, and those edges wanted to grab my work at times or cause an hazardous bump.

The 60 grits wore out much quicker for me than a 60 grit Blaze. I like everything else I tried from them though.

Tried Combat Abrasives, not a big fan... This is compared to a number of different belts... Norton Blue Fire, Blaze, 3M Cubitron, and Empire Abrasives

I've been using combat for a few years.
They work good for most steels. I've used CPM 154, Elmax, 3v, Z-wear, and pretty much everything else. They didn't do well on S110V.

Once you get up into the very wear resistant steels they don't cut as well.
But they do work fine for 3v/ zwear and anything in that range/below.

I ran through 6 brand new belts on some K390 last year. Several 120 grit and like about four 220 grits. I don't remember if that was combat or blaze belts. But I do remember that I bought the 980p's for the project.

I'm likely going to make the switch to the 980p blaze belts like DeadboxHero DeadboxHero suggested. I plan on messing with more high carbide steel in the future. (Z-max, maxamet, Rex 121)

Just cut out these mostly with an angle grinder and band saw. But I used those pretty messed up 36 grit CA belts to profile them to the lines. These belts certainly cut forever. One of their edges was slapping me in the head at one point and it was still cutting. Blaze belts must be amazing. Will buy some more CA belts (20% off right now) and blaze in the next few days. I will post some videos of a comparison. Any good suggestions for how to compare? Was thinking of using some crap steel from HD but not sure it would show a difference.

I would compare on stuff you normally grind... Like if you have 30 blanks to rough out or whatever then use one until it's dull then switch to the other and use it about to the same point.

That would work for my own use but I would like to add something to the knife making world by making it a more scientific comparison. Man it frustrates me that you have to buy some of their belts in twos. Just tried to put one scalloped belt in the cart and it say you have to buy two. Like, do you expect to sell more than one order a day? I understand they have tens of belts, but come on. Just let me buy one belt. Been reading what reviews I can find and the general consensus is- eh. Razor edge- I really like your knives.

Go to trugrit, they have the best manufacturers and you can buy 1 of any belt you like.

With that amount of knives, you should consider laser cutting and leave the abrasives for bevels...
