Has anyone tried their belts? I heard about them from Walter Sorrell's Youtube channel and the prices seem right.

I used them a few times. I still prefer true grits stuff. "Blaze like" amd "cubitron like" is all well and good, but i stick woth tru grit. Met the guys and they won my business

Yes I use CA exclusively for both ceramic and aluminum oxide. Buy ceramics 24 at a time and ao 48 at a time. They're not 984s but for my grinding style they've been the best value.

Trizacts and norax and some scalloped 1" belts I buy elsewhere but that's about it anymore.

I got a box of 10 60 grit ceramics from them through Amazon. The last one is on my grinder right now. I was pleasantly surprised. I found them to work quite well. Lasted longer than the Tru-grit value brand for me, and cut quite well.

I am just looking for ceramics. I am more than happy with the Gator belts for higher grits. I love the 984's, but they don't make then in 120 grit and the 967's or 972's (orange) in 120 are not up to the same standard as the 984's IMO. I want to try some of the less expensive ones before I pony up big bucks for Blaze 120's again.

CA 120s are $4.19 each if you buy 24, or $4.99 each. If you want to just try one I'll send you one. Like I said before (and in other threads) I think the 984 is a better belt but not 27% better, so it's the bulk pricing that tips the scale for me to CA.

John how would CA compare to VSM? They're pretty much the same price

The big problem is that all these suppliers are really good guys. I spent 40 minutes with the CA guy matching belts to my grinder speed. Pop from Pops has great advice on all things in knife making. I think the world of Jeff Mutz from True Grit. There are many more. They are ernest people that I feel are looking out for me. I want to buy from all of them and I am certain to do just that.

Edit. I saw that 984 belt in TruGrit's site and they call it a "120+" belt. The big savings in the ceramic belts between 3m and Norton and the bargain brands seem to be in the heavy grits. Not nearly as much difference once you get above 80 or so it seems.

I sent Pop's an e0mail asking if those are actually the 984's. On the top of the page he only lists up to 80 grit but has the 120 grit option on the pulldown menu. I want to make sure that those are the red 984's and not the orange Cubitron 120's which I find to be inferior to the Blaze 120's

There was a point in time Pops didn't have them over 80 grit. Some time last year he got 120s but never changed the website other than adding them to the drop down. They're actual 984 IIs, I used a bunch of them.
