Recently posted this on another forum (Excuse the lack of editing, computer I'm using is barely functional, surprised it can even do this much).

Many people have posted about having trouble operating Spyderco's compression lock. I am not one of them.

If you have trouble using the compression lock with either hand, could you post which knife you tried, and which method of closing it you were using?

Most here would agree (Once they've figured out one handed operation) that spydercos lock backs are ambi. considering you can close the compression lock the same way, except the thumb exerts pressure sideways rather than down, I've been confused as to why the compression lock is thought of as a right or left handed style lock (I've heard conflicting opinions, amusingly enough).

The compression lock is pretty ambidextrous, all you have to do is pinch it and the blade will fall. As for which model I have it is the CPM-D2 one.

I've got the plain Jane Paramillie, and the compression lock is as close as you can get to being ambidextrous without being a back lock. It is far more lefty friendly than most liner locks. I'm a lefty that uses his right hand for almost everything besides writing and eating, so I can view the subject from both sides.

I would agree that its about as ambidextrous as it gets. I have a Para, and I have many different methods of opening and closing the blade, and can use any of them with either hand. I'm a righty, but find it just as easy to manipulate with my left hand.
