I think it’s a 1917 chambered in .45ACPIs that a Victory?
I guess those casings do look a little short and wide for 38 special - much cooler old revolver there for sure!I think it’s a 1917 chambered in .45ACP
My Dad had one, my daughter has it now.I guess those casings do look a little short and wide for 38 special - much cooler old revolver there for sure!

Yep. S&W Model of 1917 cal .45 ACP. This one is the 1937 Brazilian contract model. It's primo on the trail both on foot and in the saddle.1917? That was my Dads choice for home defense, he carried one in WW II.

I much prefer revolvers to DA/SA autos. I do love my 1911, but I feel more at home with my revolvers. I posted the 1917 to be a smartass as it's a big gun -- my Ruger SP101 is much more easily carried concealed. But with the right holster and clothes, the 1917 can work.I’m pleased to see so many revolvers chosen. Sometimes simpler is good.
For me it's also about the trigger. The feel of the DA trigger dong the work and returning to the same position is reassuring.I love my Kimber .45 (had it since 1997), but like the simplicity of a revolver. Also, I’m old and lazy, and prefer carrying a light weight firearm.

Sweet!Love me some great "old, fat and slow", but do they have any cartridges optimized for 2" barrels?
I have two Kimber Ultras - not seen that ammo yet for those, everything seems to be 230GR hardball for 5" barrel.
*not shown the Ultra Carry two-tone .45acp - hard to keep up!

For a while I carried a 4 inch 686 IWB. It was a lot like carrying a 1911. It was definitely as big as I would go though.I much prefer revolvers to DA/SA autos. What made you decide to switch from your 1911 styles (Kimber and Colt .380) to the Ruger revolver? It's nothing to look at - but it presents very quickly -
Handgun - Ruger LCR 38 Special +p
Modifications - Hogue Piranha Grip - G10
Holster - Safariland Model 25 Pocket Holster
Ammunition - Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel Personal Protection 38 Special +P
Pants - Duluth Trading Duluthflex Firehose Carpenter's Pants
And if your garment has not been considered, you didn't think deeply enough.
I hope you all have carry insurance.

All I carry is my p220st with fancy wood grips in a r grizzle warping holster. Gotta be classy when the time comes.Been carrying my Sig P220 Carry alot and occasionally my HK P30 during colder weather ... but as it's warming up I switch more between my HK VP9 .... a Beretta Cheetah .380 ... a S&W Shield 9mm ... and a S&W 637 PC J-Frame ...
I'll have to try to add pics later ...
