I took a risk on buying 12" and 6" contact wheels from Ali Express. I will say I am pretty impressed. The 12" was $80 the 6" was $54. I had them bored out for 6202 bearings as that bearing size was the only option and ordered 6202 1/2" bore bearings elsewhere. Here is a series of pictures of what arrived today, just 6 days after I placed the order....

yes, I didn't have to guess what DHL had dropped off. Despite having no box, there was no damage evident to the outside.

Bubble wrap, foam and plastic. No damage inside either.

The 12" had been balanced, the 6" had not, but spun true (for what I could do at the moment) so I guess it was pretty true already. I'm not sure a wheel this small would really show any imbalance unless the casting was downright bad.

I need longer bolts for axles, so this isn't bolted on, I just wanted to see what it looked like in place on the new grinder.

This video shows it hand spun. Again, no nut on the bolt. It continued to spin for over a minute and I started it with very little speed. no wobble I can see. I'll let you know if i have any issues when i have it bolted up and running proper. I hope this information is useful to someone.

Just a tip: you can have the wheels bored out for most bearing sizes. Just give them instructions and they will make it happen.

For use on the KMG you know what bearings to take? Or anyway if these 6202 are fine?...I'd like to try a 14" weel

Tried to order yesterday. CC company figured it was fraudulent and locked my card down lol.

Straightened that out, try again today.

I have to go back to this topic, to say that following Kevin bought a 14" wheel. The wheel has arrived perfectly and is perfectly balanced,I adapted it to my KMG and after a small and hasty test, it seems to work fine.

I ordered a 12" wheel, came with good shipping. I had the 6202 bearings installed. It wasn't balanced perfectly - had a tad of bounce to it when spinning. Slowly turning wheel, allowing to come rest it would always roll back to same point. Drilled a few balancing holes, now it stops at random places and runs pretty smooth. Happy with purchase - a rubber coated 12" wheel for $80 shipped! Can't beat the price.

Anybody gotten any of these in serrated form have any feedback? I've already got a smooth 14" wheel from KMG but wouldn't mind getting a harder, serrated one for roughing.

Hoping for some advice on a contact wheel issue.
My grinder has an 8" contact wheel that simply fits right onto a shaft that measures exactly 1".

I have a couple of projects planned for which I would like to briefly temporarily swap out the contact wheel for a 2" or 4" wheel.
The 2" Ali Express wheel is $23 which is hard to beat if it will fit.
Others in this thread seem to have ordered them with 6202 bearings.
One option is "ID 25mm". Since the shaft on my grinder is exactly 1" (25.4mm) I'm wondering if I get get this to work.
Ideally "ID 25mm" really means 1". If not, any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes, if it is precise, then it won't quite fit since the shaft is exactly 1"...

In that case do you think I can open it up without destroying balance?

No, it would not work. The axis does not enter the wheel hole, the measurements are so precise. A road could be to create a new axis to be used with wheels that have 6202 bearings or even 25mm.
I have a question for you, the wheel I see in your picture has no bearings!?!

Will Ali Express make a custom wheel size over 14”?

Yes, my current grinder works just like the picture, no bearings.

JT, people earlier in this thread mentioned giving them special instructions etc.
To simply buy a listed product, you can just click on it and pay with PayPal (that's what I did).
To contact them and leave a message, there is a link, but it seems like I would need to create an account.
