Have at her troops, Igloo Yukon vs the Yeti. I know I have too much disposable income these days but I'm the "buy once cry once" type of consumer.
I can get a really good deal on the Yukon, 40% off, so I think that's where I might end up, maybe?. Size wise I'm looking at the 70QT/66L, any advice on size when it come to coolers???

ooo this is good.

i have saw the yeti in action here, not sure bout the Igloo Yukon, never used it.

the yeti is like a vault and keeps bud cold.

too much for me my 2.

I have had a Yeti roadie 20 for over a year now. It really keeps things very cold for a very long time. One summer morning temps where in the 90s, I put in 10 hot bottles of water and a 10lb bag of ice. The next morning some of the bottles of water where slushy.
If you have the money go with Yeti. It will be the last cooler you buy for sure.

How does the Engel rate in the mix? Yeti seems to have better market penetration though.

I guess for me the real "deal maker" is the price. I'm getting a good discount on the Yukon, and that's going to influence my purchase. Thanks for the comments

Has anyone tried the Pelican? It appears to have the Hardigg Stormcase clasps and is built tough like their other cases.

Do yourself a favor and check out the new Pelican coolers. Google - pelican pro gear - the site will come up! We need a group buy to get a good price if anyone is out there listening! :D

My advise to the OP is to check out the ARB fridge/freezers that run on 12v and 120v. They will make ice cubes in 90* heat, can run all night on 12v & still start your vehicle. http://store.arbusa.com/Fridge-Freezer-C48.aspx

Or Engel fridge/freezers. Same as above. http://www.engel-usa.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=59

You would NEVER have to get ice, have soggy stuff BECAUSE of the ice, worry about getting to a store before it closes. These things are friggin AWESOME. Unless you gotta air drop it though !!! LOL :D

I got one of these just in time for a "cold snap". It appears to be the equal of a Yeti at lesser cost.

I bought a Yeti 70 quart about 6 years ago for use while traveling in our van. Expensive, well made, looks good, but only keeps ice as well as my 40 year old Coleman steel belt cooler. BIG disappointment. Just saw the Yukon and it looks pretty nice. The big question... how well does it work?

I have only seen the Igloo Yukon but don't own one. I do have some Yeti's and Pelican coolers and in terms of ice retention I have not noticed much difference at all between them. The last cooler comparison review I read had them tied for first in that category.

There are some differences I will share some random thoughts on. I feel the carry handles and latches on the Pelican coolers are better and they are a better value in terms of cost per cooling space particularly in the larger sizes. The Yeti's are less bulky and take up less cargo space then the Pelican's with the same interior space. My Pelican 35 qt. is about the same exterior size as my Yeti Tundra 50 qt.

Yeti's are great for fishing because of the more streamlined & rounded design as well as lighter weight & size. You can also get custom Seadek pads for the Yeti lids that make them ideal for casting platforms. Yeti recently introduced rod holders and cup holders. The Yeti Roadie 20 is a great model with really has no competition. Yeti's are certainly more fashionable. I don't recall ever seeing people showing off bumper stickers, t-shirts, caps, coozies, etc. from other cooler makers.

Pelicans look like they could take more punishment than the Yeti's. What they lack in fashion style they make up for being an overbuilt and excellent bang for the buck cooler. I got a Pelican 65 last year on sale with free shipping for half of what a Yeti 65 runs. As you can tell I tend to favor the Yeti's for smaller coolers and the Pelican's for larger ones.

Whatever you get I would recommend you consider locking it down and both Yeti and Pelican are designed doing that. High end coolers are high theft prone.

Recently got a Yeti Roadie" 20 as a birthday gift from my girlfriend. Wanted one bad, dropped lots of hints and got one. Well..................I followed the directions regarding "pre-cooling" it, keeping the lid closed (no excessive opening of the lid), etc. and used it on a 3 day camping/fishing trip. Found that it kept things cold, but not noticeable colder than my regular Coleman. The drain plugged leaked all over my cloth seat, completely saturated the seat. The leak happened even though the plug was tightly sealed. Ordered new drain plugs and tested for leaks, didn't have any, but I'm leery about using it again. Its very durable and well made, but not certain its worth the big price tag and frankly, its not so significantly superior to my old coleman. It 's good for putting all those extra decals on and of course, it makes a statement that I've "arrived" as a "cooler elitist" LOL!:D

YMMV

Check each size of each brand . The smallest Pelican has only 1" of insulation while larger ones have 2".
I have some Yetis .For deer I fill up some 1 Ot plastic bottles ,freeze and put in the cooler with the meat. Works very well !

This thread made me take a look at the high end coolers at Sportsman Warehouse. I saw Yeti, Girzzly, Igloo, and Coleman coolers for sale. Gosh are they expensive. I'd be afraid to leave one in the back of my pickup. Not enough room inside the cab. I will say these are some nice coolers and you can tell they actually work.

Nobody mentioned Grizzly. How are they?
