I was looking at the colibri quantum lighters. I like how they can hook onto a key ring. However, I read the ignighters fail upon frequent occasion on most colibris.

-Small is a plus (obviously not too small)

-wind proof

-water proof a plus but not a deal breaker

-quality build

-neat looking

I like these.
I lost one and just had to get a new one, much to my irritation.
They light almost anything, in any sort of weather.

I've no connection other than being a delighted customer.

Brunton Helios.
Windproof,re-fillable,does everything but weld underwater.
Adjustable flame.

I've got a PB207 as well, and I love it. It's not quite as windproof as the Brunton or Windmill lighters, but it seems more reliable. I use mine for lighting things up as well as a tool for plumbing around the house, etc.

Meanwhile, my Windmill quit on me. It won't light any more. Probably clogged up. :(

I've had my Windmill lighter for years now. Never failed me and has gone through a lot of abuse being in the pocket with keys and all. Colibri is probably great but i find them a bit hoighty toighty.

Colibri Andromeda

No problems with mine yet other than the finish starting to flake off from handling. Fill it every 2nd week, lights first shot every time.

a firefly from bruton. I can blow the thing out and it relights itself

or it might be firelight i'm not sure

i would go with a zippo lighter, i have carried one for the last 4 years every single day, and it has never let me down. im amazed because ive put it through tons of abuse(hammering, droping it down a set of concrete stairs..). im not sure if it will stay lit in as extreme winds as some of the torch lighters though, the highest ive tested it was in about 25mph winds.
its also got a lifetime warantee.

How does the SILVA windproof lighter rate? I've got a chance to buy one for 20 Euro's.

Thanks,
Sid

I have used Colibri's in the past, and they do not last very long. Yes, you can send them in..... I just wanted to worn you, before you spent good $$$ on a Colbri. I DO NOT recommend them.:thumbdn:

The Delta Windmill and the Brunton Helios use the same guts.

I prefer the Windmill because the Helios body is plastic and can break/crack in very low temps.

My $.02...

(yes, I have both. EDC is the Delta)

My colibri stopped lighting consistently after a couple of days. I called colibri and they were not very helpful. I just decided to buy a blazer insert for my zippo. It still works great, after 2 years.

keep hearing about folks having trouble with colibri lighters....

depressurize the tank, turn the flame adjustment down, fill it (might need to depressurize again 1/2 way through to get it right full), let it sit for a few minutes... turn the flame adjustment up about 1/2 way, light it a few times to get the 1/2" inner blue cone.... that'll die down as pressure evens out. You might have to readjust the height again in a few days to keep it around 1/4" inner blue cone.

Probably fill mine every 2nd week, doesn't usually get below 1/2 fill(visible fuel level helps), go through the depressurize/tweak thing every time but it's usually set within 5-10 lights. Lights the first time, every time.

I haven't used my colibri in a year. I filled it the other day, now it leaks all the gas overnight. It's junk. I should have listened to another lighter thread at the time that I bought mine.
