Just curious how much it typically costs to have blades waterjet cut. Don't need a quote, just an idea on the typical costs.

I was going to buy a bandsaw, but may just send out to have them cut depending on the cost.

I recently had some cut at a shop in Medford, OR. It ran about $.85/inch of length. The 15 1/2" blades were $14 something, the 9 1/2" were $8. Since I was using sheet, not bar stock, it made a lot of difference. I even had the holes put in the tangs. They are a tad undesize so I cab drill them to the correct size.

It's based on time, and that depends on thickness. A bunch of mine were 1/4" D2.

They were done at Design Cut Technologies, Central Point, OR, designcuttech.com.
I was really satisfied with the job Sam did. He cut 39 blades for me.

It's been a year or two since I had any done, but last I heard, Bladeforums member Great Lakes Waterjet was charging $10/blade, big or small, and no setup fee.

Usually it kinda depends on volume too. 300 parts are cheaper to do (per unit) than 5.

$3 -$15 for the knives I have done.

Depends not only on length of cut, but amount of pierces too.

Edit: By pierce, I mean pierce, not piece.
Holes add dramatically to the price.

Go local. i called around and hooked up with a real cool local guy who charges me between $2-$3 per piece. cheapest online quote i got for same pieces was $8 per part.

No, i had pre made parts, i just took them in and they did all the hard stuff. they cut me test parts for every piece before doing any actual cutting. when i have approval they went to town.
