What’s the deal with these heads, just saw one sell for $263 plus shipping online. I have one and it’s the least useful head in my collection. It splits kindling well but so does pretty much any other axe. The bit is super thick so it doesn’t chop well at all.

Are they exceptionally rare?

Anyway, I think I will put it under lock and key till I decide what I want to do with it.

I just showed my wife that auction also. Crazy. We have/had one of those at my parents house. Probably still there somewhere. Had maybe about an 18" handle and a leather sheath that said El lobo. We used to split kindling with it mostly. I think we got it around 1990 from the hardware store my dad worked at.

I've had one and sold it instantly. I got good money for it, far more than it's worth, like Norlund value. But nothing remotely like that silly price.

They only made approximately 2000x of them, as they weren't very popular when they came out. I believe they weren't even able to pay off the dies. For whatever reason they got popular recently (like Norlund, as others have mentioned) so I'd sell it and sink the money into a more useful axe.

That’s kind of what I’m thinking. Sell before the fad passes. Then again I got it for nothing and I do like that its unique.... I guess we’ll see.... not going to rush in to anything.
