I thought this El Lobo would look cool with a polished bit so I messaged it, repainted, rehung, and stitched up a sheath for it.

Compared to one produced later. (c. 2005? ~Early 00’s)

According to Council only about 2500 El Lobos were made, back in 2005, and they weren't a very popular model at the time. The dies failed to pay for themselves. It was only in the past couple of years that they've attained something of a status as a collectors' item.
Thanks! It wasn’t hung when I got it.So, what was the problem with the original haft? Nice leather work. DM
Ah! I see. I was just showing a comparison to a NOS one.Someway you confused me, showing 2 Lobo hatchets... DM
I like Hudson Bay pattern, but I was never a fan of El Lobo, till today. I guess your leather work makes it more appealing. Can you share what kind of leather paint do you use. Some kind of leather wax for the finish?![]()

I appreciate it! I’m undecided about selling it..Your work, especially with the leather, is excellent. Bravo. Now go cash in on that puppy.
Sure! Although I’m just getting started in leathercraft, this is only my fourth sheath to date.I like Hudson Bay pattern, but I was never a fan of El Lobo, till today. Just do it lol. There are better working tools out there, and your example is worth far more as it is than it's value as a working tool. Cash in and fund many more projects. It's value may surprise you. It could fund your next 10 projects.I appreciate it! I’m undecided about selling it..
