I visited Tai Goo recently and got to admire some of his latest forged knives. Thought you guys would like to see a few photos. The second one became mine, and I can't stop admiring it. The bush knife in the photo with it was the one we forged when I took lessons with him years ago.

Tai is so talented.

Congrats on your blade

Very clean and refined forging!! I like very much those little knives, thanks for showing!!!

Glad you all liked the photos. Tai, Jeff, and I spent a couple days together filming for another video, with Jeff providing some pretty cool live banjo music. This one will be on making a little forged integral similar to the one in the first picture below. It should be a video worth getting (after the tedious process of editing is done). Tai's precise hammering was definitely the highlight for me. I hope to get a little trailer up on youtube soon, which I'll also post here. Below are some of the other knives of Tai's I got to see and hold. I was wishing I had a little more cash to take some of those sweet blades home with me...wow.

dude is a genius.

Tai is so left of center he's out of reach. Really talented, a great teacher, and projects wacky opinions. (The last one gets him in trouble on the forums!)

His work is highly regarded on my radar!

I have to show you (again?) his take on a RR spike knife for fun:

I have a couple of his knives which defy convention.

Good thread!

Tai is far more interesting then those who wanted him gone.

Truly a unique maker and individual.

Tai's work is an inspiration. I have admired it greatly for a long time. Love to meet the man.

I miss his delightful impish posts...and his knives are good counterpoint to the ABS style.

Tai Goo and Tim Lively are the two individuals whose work is the biggest inspiration for my own. I've been privileged to meet both gentlemen and in the case of Tai, have a forging lesson where I learned to make the integral socket handles I tend to use on my large blades.

I always love to see Tai's work. He marches to his own Jew's harp (which he makes!) and always has to be stirring the pot, but he is darn good at what he does. His artistic background is obvious in his work, and I love how he will periodically take on a new style that ties in nicely with what he has made in the past but is distinctly different. Like a painter with different phases in their work.

And of course, the camp knives he's been making lately really floats my boat. :)
