CPK Pet Thread

Very sorry to hear this, Mat. Although it’s never easy, at least your Yorkie had a long, happy life in a caring home. Best to you and yours.

Sorry to hear Mat. Your not dampening our Monday. We can bear this with you. Never easy to lose a friend.

Sorry for the news, Mat.

My pup goes to the vet tonight. He's been limping really, really badly for a few weeks now. I suspect his front wheel has a bad wheel bearing - his shoulder seems to be very much at odds with the rest of him. We are not looking forward to the news we suspect.

Our pets sure do win a spot in our hearts. Hate to see them ailing. My dog looks at me as I am sure yours must look at you, as if, "hey boss, something ain't right and I could use a little help."

Best.

I’m truly sorry to hear this. It’s never easy, I recently lost my best bud Bear. He was just about 17 and I’ve lost others. For me when it came that time. I took some peace in knowing I gave them all Great well lived lives :)

It is so hard to have to make that sort of decision for a dog. The decision of whether it is better to spare the dog pain or let them cling. It is always a struggle to find the balance that is best for your friend. Sometimes we get to feel like we got it right, other times you are left wondering, and that is hard. I wish you luck and strength as you face this question.

It is always hard to lose a good dog. The pain is almost as great as the joy they bring to our lives. But I hope you can focus on the joy part after the pain part recedes, though I know the pain is still to come for you.

He passed away very lovingly in my arms about two hours ago, with dignity and in peace after the Valium injection calmed him down.

Thanks again guys & gals for all your kind words, messages and email. His name was Hercules :)

RIP our little Herci-Jerki. Pic was taken a few years back when in a much healthier time in his life:

My condolences bud.
I’m glad he went peacefully.

Thanks Nathan. As said before, been through this quite a few time. Not quite sure if it was easier with the bigger and the larger dogs in the past or the tiny lil fella. I reckon that it sucks either way when life / death decisions are made on their behalf. Back in the day when my hardcore hunter father had a bunch of bird dogs around the family, we understood that they were more like working dogs. As live-in family pets, we develop much closer bonds with them. My lil Yorkie was a total little sh*thead and not affectionate at all! A barely 12 lb. lil bastid who'd dare to take on the 87 lb. GSD just a few years ago! He was old, ailing, Cushing's disease, arthritis, dementia and a major PITA.

All that said, the first day feels surreal, then reality sets in and life goes on till it doesn't. I truly appreciate the camaraderie in here and proud of the fact that by and large we have built quite a nice little community in this corner of the BFC for ourselves. Your sub is a reflection of the quality of the person who you both are
