Any chance we might eventually see a CPM-3V trailmaster? any real advantages over San-Mai 3? thoughts?

I would like to see one, but with a more ergonomic, curved handle.

Plus, it would be cool if they brought back the Bush Ranger with a CPM-3V blade too.

There is no reason why this should not happen. Makes more sense than the Master Hunter in 3V actually.

The Trailmaster is an exceptionally well made, nicely designed, and aesthetically pleasing Bowie. It would be excellent in 3V. There are lots of Cold Steel products which have become classics over the years... I purchased my first Trailmaster in the mid 1980's, and I still think that it's a fantastic knife with a nice pricepoint.

Cold Steel is surely aware of their classic products. I feel that they should have "Collector", or "Special Editions" regularly, featuring exceptional steels, exotic handle materials, and special finishing. They could have "pass arounds" of the prototypes available to forumites, and indeed, allow us to have first dibs on any of these special products.

I've been dreaming of a Trailmaster with stacked leather handle...

I Googled "rehandled Cold Steel Trailmaster", and saw many really nice rehandled Trailmasters. Get one and have it done! It would be unique, and a nice step up from the very functional but not aesthetically pleasing Kraton.

Maybe I will. But I hold out hope that Lynn Thompson hears my lonely cry in the wilderness...

It would be great to see CS bring out more of their larger knives in 3V. My first request would be the gurka kukhri.

3V should be much more resistant to chipping than VG-1 san mai.

Agreed. I have a 3V Master Hunter, and I love it, but 3V's main claim to fame - toughness - seems a bit wasted on a smallish hunting knife like this. It make way more sense on a giant chopper like the TM or Kukri. True, 3V also exhibits higher wear resistance than several other common tool steels (A2, D2, O1, etc.), but it still seems that its incredible toughness at higher hardness is its main selling point.

This is just me, but I prefer a high-end stainless for smaller knife applications. Something like Elmax, with a good balance of toughness, edge-holding, and weather resistance. XHP is another steel I'm getting to appreciate, and I know Cold Steel is making some folders in that steel now. So add to my wish-list a MH in XHP, along with a Trailmaster in 3V. That would be a sweet combo.
