Thinking about selling my small 31 to buy a socom elite. Anyone care to offer me some internet opinions on it? I like my small 31 well enough, and if I only had one knife it might very well be it...but I don't. And while I don't usually carry anything over 3 inches. I've been carrying a PM2 this week, and a socom is tempting to try.

I nearly bought a SOCOM a couple of days ago. I like them a lot, and the build quality is really well done. However, CRK still holds the spot in my collection as the most out of the box "perfect" folder I have ever owned. I don't think I would ever trade my Inkosi for another knife. Then again, that knife has a great deal of meaning to me. So I probably can't be much help. I have a microtech in my pocket as I type and my CRK is in my sock drawer. I would give up any of my MT before I gave up my CRK, but my MTs get carried a lot more...go figure:)

I've tried the OTF ones and I'm just not a fan, nothing against microtech, they make a great knife. So its basically the socom or the LUDT.
Buy the SOCOM then decide? Isn't that what people normally do
Honestly yes. That's probably exactly what I'll do. I'll also tell me wife I'll sell one of them....eventually.

Socom, 100%. The Sebenza has been around for way too long and only the purists will tell you it’s perfect (it isn’t, no knife is). Sure, the Sebenza has a better grind, yadda yadda... but you already said you have a PM2, just use that if you need a slicer. The Socom will put a grin on your face, it’s just so big and bold, it’s a wonderful knife.

Small 31 vs Socom Elite? Basically the same knife...I mean, aside from the size, materials, and CS. They're so dissimilar that an either/or discussion seems odd. Might as well get it, if the size works for you.

Buy me the Elite and I’ll compare for you and let you know. Thanks!

I can come up with a handful of rational reasons to not buy a Microtech, but their heat treat by and large is pretty dang good in the 4 examples I have used.
