CRKT Crawford Kasper

i've had several, small and std size, FRN handle and the pro series w/the alloy handles, they are ok for what they are, the alloy handle ones have a little better steel (IIRC AUS6 on the std vs AUS8 on the pro model), the only con imho is the liner locks arent the best, i have had to send a couple back for replacement, just keep an eye on the liner lock and ya will be fine with it imho.

the CRKT kasper is really close in dimensions to the crawford kasper, really close, almost exactly, i liked the design so much i now have 2 crawford kaspers and a perfigo lol, of course the CRKT is nowhere near the knife the crawford is.

the alloy pro models are hard to find now, but i have seen the FRN handle ones fairly cheap, IIRC ~$25=$30 or so, one with a coated blade might be higher, i wouldnt want a coated blade myself though, they scuff up too easily for me, YMMV lol.

the are an excellent design, but ya gotta remember they are a CRKT so imho they really arent that "tough" imho, the steel is ok even on the std models but again watch that liner lock, thats the weak link.

i think they are a great looking blade. pity they are rare now..
but anyway. HOW THIN ARE THOSE DARN LINERS? they are like 1.5mm thin piece of 420j.... thats horrendously bad for a tough knife..

Used to have the fixed blade version..

The handle on the knife is great. I found it very comfortable and stable.

I have the smaller one...by buddy has the one you have a pic of. They seem to be really nice for the money, for some reason the smaller one has a little better steel...but all in all a very nice knife, with an excellent lock up. SMKW did have these dirt cheap on their website (15 or 20 bucks if I remember correctly), they are well worth that anytime.

Yeah it has the double or safety lock in case the liner lock would fail. I can't see that ever happening to me though as I don't use folders for things that should be handled by stout fixed blades.

oh i dont use mine for things requiring big fixed blades, if i was you i would try and find an older one without lawks, i dont like that, really dislike the auto lawks, a decent liner lock needs neither FWIW.

the fixed blade cerrikson is thinking of is the companion, i bet, its not really a folding kasper though, its a fixed blade made by polkawaski and designed by kasper, i have a polkawski companion too FWIW, the CRKT version is an excellent knife though as long as ya get a custom sheath, the 2 sheaths that it comes with sux.
