I recently ordered a CRKT Minimalist for my wife (and one for myself/a gift for someone else)... something she can have on her that she can deploy quickly and something small enough that she would carry all the time. I was trying to decide between the Minimalist Wharncliffe and the Cold Steel Mini Tac Kiridashi... The Mini Tac is 1" longer so I chose the CRKT. I like both the Wharncliffe and the Bowie, but I figured the Wharncliffe was a bit better type of blade for self defense (maybe easier to sharpen as well?) while still being a pretty decent blade for other things.
I carry the Boker Plus MA-2. I know alot of people don't like this style because of all the finger holes and chisel grind, but I find the finger holes to be really nice (has really good grip) and I find no problem keeping it sharp. I'm not a huge fan of the stock sheath, so I bought a custom kydex one on ebay. I also have the BK14 (which I love!), but it's not my choice for a primary self defense knife. (I prefer something smaller.)
Any way, I like the Wharncliffe style for the Minimalist. Hope any of that helped!
