The CRKT MinimalX is based on a knife design Darriel Caston did commemorating the launch of a SpaceX rocket. He called that model the SpaceX.
Apparently this caught the eye of someone at SpaceX, and they had him design a very similar knife for possbile use by SpaceX crews. So, I guess it was going be a space knife.

The CRKT MinimalX has a steel framelock rather the snazzy titanium of the Caston custom ones, but is considerably cheaper and easier to find.
I mentioned I thought it looked kind of neat, so my wife bought me one for Christmas.

I spotted a distant cousin of it in the wild...a Cybertruck!

See the resemblance?

:D

I made a video of my initial impressions, along with what needed to be changed for me to consider it a viable EDC knife.
You can see how it was at first, and how it ended up after slight modification. :)

If you don't mind a bit of Dremel work, I think it can make a fine EDC knife for many folks.

Neat looking knife. Agreed on the grind. Would rather see a different blade shape with a pointier tip. Talk about a serious blunder on the lock, though. Not everyone will have the confidence to make the changes you did, but I think your changes are perfect.

That truck looks like a bad joke or something drawn by a toddler.

Thanks! :) I think the knife definitely should have had the cutout for lock access when bought.

I think the Cybertruck looks like when the graphics rendering fails in a video game and everything gets all angular. Odd that it actually got into production looking like that! 🤣

I think the Kershaw Tilt would be the closest you could get to the Cybertruck in knife form.

As for the truck, I have no desire to own a cordless vehicle but if I had to, it would be a Cybertruck.

You might be correct on that (just looked at a picture).
But the MinimalX has that tenuous Elon connection, so I think that tips the scales slightly in its favour. ;)

👍 I meant in looks alone. Yes, the MinimalX is definitely closer to having actual Elon DNA. 😁

I like the mods ya did to the knife. I think it's kinda cool and normally I don't care for oddball stuff too much.

I dislike the cybertruck mainly for the massive weight and bulkiness...beside the design. just seems like whomever designed it never drove or owned a truck before and never went off road.

I definitely find the knife way better being able to close it easily.
I've found it to be more useful than I had thought looking at photos...still would have preferred a flat grind with no fuller though.

As for the Cybertruck design, it just boggles the mind.
Some people must like it though because they buy them...and they aren't cheap. 🤔

LOOK OUT !
It's a T car !
Those things have been known to self drive and take people out !
And if not the car itself the crazies that drive 'em.
In the famous words of Monty Python : RUN AWAY !
