CRKT Redemption

Damn, that does look pretty good. Yea, 4" is a little big for my tastes also. Really though, I'd like nothing more than to see CRKT start having knives made by some serious players in the game like they did here with Hogue. I remember looking through the old CRKT catalogs in the 2010s and they also had the coolest mechanisms and just crazy, innovative ideas. Some really cool stuff. Unfortunately they'd almost always make them with materials and worksmanship that didn't really tickle my fancy. I kinda doubt that they've changed their business strategy, but here's hopin.

It looks good and is a step forward, but I see a few annoying issues that would stop be from getting it. If I'm seeing it correctly, there's no blade opening feature and you're just supposed to pull the lock back and swing it out? That's not the quickest and most reliable way to open a knife, and it might land you in hot water in some areas for having a gravity knife. Plus, the blade is fully covered by the handle when closed and it has a dagger grind, but they missed the opportunity to make it a double edged knife. What was the point of making the grind that steep and less suited for slicing, then? It seems like it's mostly good for stabbing, but it doesn't have any guards, choils, or other features to prevent your hand from sliding onto the blade when thrusting. The historical tie-in is kind of cool, though.

Lord knows , CRKT surely could use some heavy duty "redeeming" for all those myriad great ideas it has turned into crap products . 😒

Maybe this could be a small start in the right direction ?

Not having a double edge is a missed opportunity but everything else looks OK. I also looked at the Lerch Definitive and LCBK and they don't look bad either. These items specifically as they're produced by Hogue. I have a Sig K320 Walnut and a Boker Karakurt (black) and like both.

The knives I still enjoy the most are the old crkts I used to buy. Kiss two timer might be the most interesting little folder I carry.I miss the days when Crkt was always trying new things (autolawks, deadbolt, one-move detachable mechanisms, strange but cool opening methods etc.).

Doesn't look bad at all, I still would have liked a double edge but I guess that can be done at home with some effort.

I hardly need another knife but the $150 - $200(+/-) range has some options that look worthwhile when you can find them.

When I saw that they had rereleased this one, I had to pick one up!
