crkt sting in water?

It's 1050 steel. So my guess would be, not well. I have one that I carry in an OnSceneTactical sheath and I keep the uncoated blade edge oiled.
If you need a "river knife" I'd get a stainless Mora, cheap and good.

If you are talking the new one that is made of 1050 steel then no. 1050 is a high carbon steel, which means that it will rust easily. Also the Sting is way too pointy for my taste in the water (I'm a SCUBA diver).
Edit-The handle looks like it would be very slippery when wet also.

I would take a look at the Benchmade H1 knife, or even the Mission Knives if you have deep pockets.

yea. I don't want to have to buy a new one. so my options are:

mod cqb mkiv with 154cm
crkt abc hammond with aus 8?

Benchmade River/Dive Knife

They say that they upgraded the steel. but I still call it the H1 knife. H1 is a newer steel that has a 100% (advertised) corrosion resistance.

Edit-I really like the look of the CRKT ABC, AUS8 should be okay in the water, as long as it is kept oiled. Make sure to wash it with freshwater if it ever comes in contact with salt water. Also the CRKT is cheaper than the MOD so if it does get lost it is cheaper to replace.

Yes, I meant Salt. Oooops, sorry about that. I have the eye hand coordination of a clam!

yea, being in the water with my knives is a once in a while thing. I'm going tubing and wanted to bring a knife just encase.

lol, maybe I should just take my BM42, since 440C has some pretty good corrosion resistance, and the handles are titanium anyway...

yay or nay?

I would say never ever have a knife on you when you are tubing, skiing, or any other water sport. If I understand you correctly when you say tubing, riding behind a boat on a rubber tube, then that is very very stupid. Not only will you have no use for the knife while going 20+MPH on water, but you will most likely lose your knife or even injure yourself. If you feel that you must carry a knife, bring one you don't care about and leave it in the boat or in a pocket on your PFD.
