I have a Cross Matrix Gel pen and find that the ink is kinda spotty when writing. Its pretty annoying, does anyone find that they have similar problems or do I just have a bad gel cartridge.

I have a Cross Ion gel pen and I don't like it very much. The worst part is the gel smears. Get any bit of moisture on it and fuhgettaboutit.

I prefer my Fisher Space Pen (bullet).

Although Cross pens are highly touted, I've never liked them. The slick steel barrells and heavy weight make em' difficult to handle (for me) and even the regular ink jobs I've used are rather skippy.

In fact, on of my favorite pens (alas, no longer available) is the papermate "stick" pen in the "professional point" version. (sort of very fine)

My fingers seem to like skinny pens, rather than the thumb-sized numbers that seem so popular in high-end jobs.

I always hated slim pens, so cross is out of the question. I smeared Cross RB ink often, too

I get that spottiness too. I solved the problem by hanging another keyring pen from the Cross Ion lanyard. The lanyard is a nice, heavy-duty item.

I've found the same thing with gel pens...

New they write SMOOTH! After a long while on the shelf... they get kind of blobby

so are they just spotty at first, then get better after usage?? or are they always like that?
