I wanted to share an update about Crucible Industries. They’ve issued a WARN Notice, indicating a possible shutdown in 90 days. We’ve taken proactive steps to maintain a strong supply chain and ensure uninterrupted service for the cutlery industry.

We have already placed orders with Erasteel, Carpenter Technologies, Ellwood Quality Steels and Universal Stainless who will provide the same high-quality products and the same exact chemistries. We have been processing their cutlery and/or aerospace alloys for several years and their quality has always been outstanding. Although there may be a brief adjustment period during this transition, our team is committed to minimizing any disruptions and maintaining the service and product quality you have come to expect from us.

It is also important to note that Crucible Industries is making efforts to remain in business during this process. We have steel on order with them and they are continuing to process everything they can.

Thanks, Bob, for sharing this info with the community.

If I can be of assistance to you in getting info posted while you're engaged in keeping your business running, just give me a shout and I'll help in any way I can.

Hope Crucible can find a way out of this.

Could we organize a Go Fund Me or similar? Every single one of us on this forum has used steel that has passed through the hands of the workers at Crucible. Losing them cannot be an option for the knife industry or enthusiasts.

love the thought but don't think there is enough or us to do much. Just in property taxes they owe 700k article linked below is the source.....that is a drop in a bucket of their red ink hole, I'd be willing to bet.....

I hope they figure out how to reorganize their debt load in bankruptcy, if it ends up there.....

The county just needs to defer the tax. Property taxes putting a long standing American steel mill out of business is awful.

Should they cease operating, would this mean the end of production of CPM knife steels as we know them?
