CS Assegai Spear

Does anybody have a Cold Steel assegai spear? specifically the short handled version? If so, how do you like it? Hows the sharpness, quality of the spear head, etc.? Thanks guys
 
I don't yet, but I plan on picking one up soon. I'm just going to get the head alone, though. :)
 
i have one i bought over a year ago and like it fine. doesnt come very sharp, so you have to do it. the spear head is very strong and thick and has withstood throwing without warping/bending the blade.

i got the shaft with the spear head and improved it myself. i put a copper pipe "ring" around the end and sunk a bolt into the center of the tip and liquid nail'sed it in place. now it has a sharp end and a seriously strong blunt end to strike with or to use as a walking staff.

i just like to collect primitive type weapons and this spear is a good addition.
 
Borrowed, could you put up a photo of your modded spear? I have an Assegai and I'd like to modify mine as well. I also have the long shaft version and I was a bit disappointed in it. My son and I were throwing it at a plywood target and one of my son's throws [always blame someone else if you possibly can] just barely penetrated the plywood , leaving about a quarter of an inch of the tip supporting the whole weight of the spear which resulted in a bent tip. Maybe that's to be expected.
One day I think I'll pick up the Boar spear as well.
By the way, does anybody know where the program "Deadliest Warrior" gets their spears from? They look pretty good and I don't think they're from Cold Steel.
