Going for a week with the wife and 3 year old boy......
Have a 11 ft diawa ardito 5 piece surf casting rod with a quantum blue runner(salt reel) with 200 yards of 50 lb braid with a 30 lb maxima topshot have some big xraps and salmon spoons plus big bucktail jigs with some bait rigs and wire leaders.
Can anyone who is versed in this give me some tips?
Would be appreciated

If it's in the budget I would recommend a Fishing charter. They supply the equipment and you have the fun.

Have a look at the international section on worldseafishing. They have a huge thread on Cuba, if you Google worldseafishing cuba all ideas will be there.

I've zero knowledge of fishing Cuba but if I were going to throw lures in the surf I would start with a chrome spoon, something like a Kastmaster or Stingsilver.
Good luck!
