I need a new set of cookware. I need to keep the price below the general costs of AllClad, Calphalon, Mauviel, etc brands.
The ~$200 Hard Anodized aluminum sets I have looked at are too thin and too rough to get my money. I have tried the cheaper Calphalon and did not like it. My older Pro Calphalon works very good.
I do not want the weight of Le Cruset or Lodge cast iron. I also will have some trouble keeping them in tip top shape due to some environmental exposure. I really want to try a Staub oval roaster or Dutch oven though so, if I find a good deal on one I'm apt to make an impulse purchase.
After walking around a shopping mall, I have pretty much narrowed my choices down to a Cuisinart stainless set or the Emerilware set made by AllClad. The Tools of the Trade store brand I found at Macy's looked tempting but, I think the Cuisinart set had a heavier aluminum base and the Emerilware set has a layer of copper for good heat distribution.
Any advice members can provide to help sway my decision is appreciated. I would also appreciate any user experiences cooking in either brand.
TIA!
Sid
