Black mulga, Acacia citrinoviridis, is a knife makers dream come true. It is an Acacia just like koa, Acacia koa, but it is much harder like desert ironwood and tighter grained with rich dark colors more like walnut. It comes from the arid outback of Western Australia only. It is rarer than snakewood and harder than ebony. It is highly chatoyant and a true gem grade wood. Wide and roomy blocks. This wood does not require stabilization.
