Hey everyone,

This is the JunkYard Dog I've been working on today. I purchased some G10 (Red, Toxic Green, Tan, Brown, and Camo) and arrived in the mail today.
This is my first time working with G10 and making scales. Im fairly happy about the result.
I will be making more tomorrow out of the rest of the colors. It took me about 4-5 hours taking my time and also taking a few breaks.

I used a Dremel with a sanding drum and cut off wheel for cutting the shape out, and an orbital sander and Dremel for the finish sanding.
I used a drill press to drill the holes and countersink them.

I chose the Toxic Green and Tan for my first set. All colored G10 scales came in pairs of 1.5" x 5" sheets @ 1/8" thick.

Thanks, Bob. The green does look nice with the silver blade and black screws. Its very inexpensive to do if you have a few basic tools (Dremel, cordless drill with drill bits at minimum).
You can buy a pair of G10 scales at usaknifemaker.com for around 4 dollars. Of course they have more expensive ones too. It is a pretty time consuming and detailed process though and it took longer than I anticipated.

Ive been eyeballing the g10 camo, I want to put scales on my 0350 and speedbump, but have too many projects at the moment. Plus my tool are mainly hand tools so it slows the process a bit. Last scale I made I used a hack saw, still a work in progress. Id like to see the camo scale when you get done.

They would look great on those knives. Im working on the camo ones right now. Ive put a pattern in them to bring out the layers in the G10. Ill post pics tonight.

Thanks for showing interest, whateatsrabbits. Thats a compliment in the highest form, but I will probably not be selling any anytime soon. I just wanted to change the look of my JYD.
Besides, they are not perfect and i would not feel right selling something that is not nearly perfect.
Thanks for the offer though!
