Hello everyone, I'm in the process of ordering a custom leather bifold wallet and wanted you guys' input on something. I will have 3 card slots on one side of my wallet for sure, but I can't decide on whether I want an ID slot or coin pocket on the other side. Here are the two designs I'm choosing from. Ignoring the color of the leather, which one would you pick and why? Thanks!

Both of those look like some nice, quality leather wallets. I personally would stay away from coins in the wallet as they just add extra "bulk" to something which already can get bulky if not careful. I also like to pay with cash, take the change and dump it each night into a jar and have a nice payday in a year or so when I take it to the bank.

Back to the wallet like you asked. I would try and get the pockets on each side and eliminate the ID slot and coin pocket. If I had to make a choice like you asked, I would go with the ID slot and maybe put my license there. Good luck on your quest and let us know how it turns out. Matt

I never leave home without my wallet and would never keep change in it, (too bulky like mshambone said) but I do keep a spare truck & house key in the coin pocket on my current wallet so my vote obviously is for the coin pocket.(taped side by side they don't stack creating even more bulk)
If I was getting a hand made wallet I would ask the maker to add a couple of slits to slip the keys in so they couldn't move around.(I'm pretty sure I've seen wallets with slits for keys before)
The pocket with flap makes for a nice secure place to keep a spare key without worrying about it falling out of a card slot.
Whatever your choice you're going to have a nice wallet, congrats.

I used to have a key and a few coins in my wallet but didn't like it. They create sharp creases and imprints in the leather after being sat on and can be uncomfortable. Even 3-4 coins side by side can add significant thickness to the wallet. I would recommend keeping everything but cards and cash out of your wallet and looking for a separate carrier for keys/coins. I found a combo change purse and key holder at my local surplus store. There are three metal hangers inside the zipper pouch to store keys. They flip out, as shown, so you can use them without difficulty.

I carry a small AGRussell pouch with a zip pocket for coins on the front and a main zip pocket on top for bills and cards. Thicker than some of you might like, but it drops almost invisibly into my left front pocket. I don't sit on any wallet, no matter how thin.

Of the two the OP shows, I like them both, but prefer the second, with the coin pouch. Both very clean designs.

Can you email me who the maker is? The first one is exactly what I'm looking for.
