For those that don't know we make a lot of khukuris and offer a lot of different options on how to make them. This specific combo is a new one though and we really like the final result.
The blade profile is that of the 1970's british service issue which was used by the gurkhas through to the mid 90s and has absolutely earned a reputation as a dependable fighting knife and survival tool. What shakes it up though is the spec choice- rugged steel hardware, a rust resistance raw forge finish and a bombproof micarta wrap handle for added durability and grip. Almost to drive the point home the customer ordered two sheaths- a traditional dap and a modular kydex setup depending on the vibe.

This 1970's blade profile was replaced by the current service issue- a shorter, stubbier and blunter blade that is designed for economical manufacture rather than performance. This combination though maybe gives a view into what the service issue could go these days if there was a change in priorities from head honchos of the gurkhas/the nepali military or if the 90's model had never taken hold.
Thanks for reading guys!
Take care,

years ago, I started a little online knife store called Bladeworks. I was a dealer for Khukuri House and a lot of khukuris passed through my hands, I love them! Salem Straub made an interpretation of a khukuri that I designed, and it's one of my best performing big knives. Anyway, I appreciate you and what you are doing. Thanks for the inspiration!

Ooh, very interesting. I can appreciate it. All the little dings in the blade make me think of birch bark.

I normally like it a bit more traditional but this one works for sure. It's just an alternate historical modern interpretation.

Thanks for the kind words Lorien! When you were dealing with khukuri house did you handle any scourges? If so I'm the guy that designed that :)

I feel you- khukuris can often drift a lot from the traditional in terms of shape and function. It's nice to be able to produce a custom that does vary and introduce some new aspects but does so with respect and understanding

I was getting the traditional ones at the time, I don't think I ordered that model but I probably should have
